Wouldn't a moses basket serve the same purpose as a snuggle nest?

I have tried everything to get our 1 month old to sleep. He likes to be in our bed, but it worries me. I hate to spend $50 on the snuggle nest. I've already bought one sleep positioner that didn't work. I found a soft moses basket for $20 used. Wouldn't this work the same way?
