Really Bad may flies.?

I live in M, around a large wooded area and I have a mosquito eater machine that runs on propane and octanol (bug attractant) but it doesn't quite seem to be helping with the may flies around my house. I did clean up some of the dead leaves, and i do wear bug spray but it is still really bug and I need to get work done outside what else can I do to manage the bug situation?
