I am recently facing a problem of wasting my DVD's. When I write them, 1 out of every 3 DVD i get an error.?

I have used almost every dvd burning softwares like NERO 9, Power2 Go, Cheetah Burner but still the problem continues. mostly the error is disc burning failed or something like this. It might be because the data i am writing does not supports the Dvd. Mostly i write movies and then fill up the remaining space with the software setup's i have. So, can anyone tell me software by which i can check whether the data i am writing is compatible or not with my DVD?
