My son's daughter's mother has married a jehovah's witness and converted.she is suing him of his parental righ?

we have hired an attorney. I've been told that her new husband wants custody and in order for them to become a hole family she must terminate my son's rights and her husband must adopt my granddaughter. Is this true?
